Martin Luther King, Jr. is such an inspiration to me! I’m so grateful that his words and wisdom live on for all of us to learn from. The quote displayed above is my favorite of all his quotes. We can all be that light in the darkness, and in every situation we always have the opportunity to choose love over hate. This quote is a good reminder that we can all make a difference if we have the courage to stand up for our beliefs, choose love, and be that light in the darkness.
Martin Luther King, Jr. is sending the same message that Jesus did in Luke 6:27-28,31: “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you…Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
I am thankful that Martin Luther King, Jr. was willing to be a light in the darkness and to have the courage to stand up for his beliefs and never give up on his dream. His passion and determination are greatly displayed here in this 5 minute version of his “I Have A Dream Speech”.
Just as light and darkness are opposites and cannot exist simultaneously, love and hate (or fear) work in the same way. When you shine a light into a room, the darkness is removed. Similarly, when you focus your thoughts on gratitude and love, worry and fears dissolve. How will YOU be the light in someone’s day today?
